OK, I’ll just say it: I adore solar energy. That’s strong language for an energy source, I know, but I just can’t help myself. I’m enamored by practical and peaceful solutions. (The sun shines everywhere—it’s renewable and we won’t have to wage war and drop bombs to get it.)

Given the sustainable nature of both micro-living and solar power, I think this blog has license enough to discuss one of my favorite topics. And with solar cells getting tinier and tinier, who knows, maybe The Tiny Apartment can someday have its very own solar collector—the extra small micro model.

Stay tuned and sunned (not tanned).

5 Thoughts on “A Solar Manifesto for Micro-Living

  1. True, we won’t need to wage wars to get it. But as the pharmaceutical companies wage war on natural health, Energy giants will wage war on what cuts into their bottom line. Not exactly sure how they’d do that but they’re sitting around the boardroom trying to figure that out.

We love solar too! While our new house will not be micro, it will be reasonable and will be solar powered! To me it’s a no brainer! No dropping bombs for this chick!

    Love the blog!

Hi Jessica, Thanks so much for your inspiring words! I can’t be happier that you’re going with solar for your new home. You and it will be a great role model for your friends and neighbors. Micro might not be the right solution for everyone, especially for families, but “reasonable” is a great compromise. Good luck with your projects! Will I be able to see the progress on a blog of your own? Patricia

We (me and The Gigantic Monty House) love this too, as we really need to downsize. I believe we are going to hold out for a solar-powered RV though!

Mobile micro-living sounds good to me too. While your space is small, the whole country is your front yard. Now if only the RV biz would figure out how to power them solely on solar! What a blast that would be.
